MR Studio contributes work to the impermanent collection at the A+D Museum.
The impermanent collection is the A+D’s translation of a museum shop. It was conceived of as a means of creating a space where the lines between art and commodity can be blurred and dabbled with. The space is curated with objects by a series of rotating artists, designers, and architects. The objects are neither singular nor mass-produced, making architecture and design accessible to the public through the act of collection. The choices made in the impermanent collection are ones that speak to the visitors’ recognition of the importance of acknowledging architecture and design in everyday life.
MR Studio invited to lecture at the Knowlton School of Architecture by AIAS on the topic of “Professional Development“ and our experiences in starting a design studio.
MR Studio is included in the “Unsupported” exhibition at Chase Public Cincinnati, Ohio.
"Unsupported" is a showcase of work by regional faculty members that attempts to approximate an image of youthful Midwestern Architecture. The show features select emerging practices from the Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture at The Ohio State University, the University of Kentucky College of Design, and University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. “Unsupported” is intended to give voice to younger faculty who negotiate the complexities of working in a gig economy, with limited patronage and teaching opportunities, and the perils of a sometime nomadic practice. The condition of being unsupported is a constraint but it is also an opportunity to define what it means for timely, contemporary work.
Featured practices include Ausgang (Chas Wiederhold), Lauren Whitehurst, Renee Martin, SUBSTUDIO Architecture (Hannah Dewhirst & Ingrid Schmidt), suburban diversions (Sean Cottengim), Team B (John Stoughton, Anna Kerr, David Corns, & Quinn Kummer), Indefinite Kindred (Brian Richter), Informal Office (Jordan Hines & Erin Ruhl), Regina Summers, A Studio (Sandhya Kochar), Miracles Architecture (Viola Ago), mr studio (Emily Mohr & Jonathan Rieke), office ca (Galo Canizares & Stephanie Sang Delgado)
